Our Board of Directors

The foundation’s work is supported by a board of directors dedicated to advancing our mission.

RON RADOSTA

Founder

Ron Radosta is the founder of the Childhood Leukemia Warriors Foundation, a nonprofit organization he created after his son was diagnosed with leukemia before his 4th birthday. Facing the emotional and financial challenges of his son’s battle with this devastating disease, Ron was inspired to find a way to support other families going through similar experiences.

After over 20 years working in the steel industry for Anco Steel, Ron’s perspective shifted when his family was directly impacted by childhood leukemia. He witnessed firsthand the immense toll it takes — not just on the child fighting for their health, but on the entire family. This experience motivated Ron to establish the Childhood Leukemia Warriors Foundation, with the goal of providing emotional and financial assistance to families navigating a childhood leukemia diagnosis.

Ron’s unwavering commitment to supporting families affected by childhood leukemia is a testament to his resilience and empathy. His personal journey has fueled his passion for making a meaningful difference in the lives of others facing this devastating disease.

JOSHUA SIEGEL

Board Member

Joshua was traveling on business when his friend Ron Radosta gave him the news that Ron’s son was diagnosed with cancer. He was concerned for his friend and his family and wanted to help however he could.

When the treatments were over, Josh was proud of his friend’s decision to form a foundation to help other families, and is honored to be one of the founding board members of the Childhood Leukemia Warriors Foundation.

Josh has been involved with another nonprofit since his early 20s and was excited to bring his knowledge and experience to CLWS.

As both a seasoned oncology professional as well as a cancer survivor, Sonya offers a unique perspective that blends expertise with personal understanding of the challenges faced by patients and families. She is passionate about leveraging her experiences to help guide the organization in its mission to support children and their families throughout their leukemia journey.

PAUL BLACK

Board Member

When Ron asked Paul if he would join the board, he didn’t hesitate to answer yes. Paul’s mother had successful cancer treatment which gave her another 30 years of life. Helping children’s families through treatment and relieving some stress appealed to him greatly.

He happily uses his organizational skills gained from a career in software engineering to help execute the foundation’s vision. Paul is also on the board of a local Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) chapter and offers peer support to members.

CHUCK MOORE

Board Member

I joined Childhood Leukemia Warriors Foundation five years ago after 45 years in the steel industry in sales and management positions.

Cancer came into my life in July of 1985 when my wife was diagnosed with kidney cancer. Having detected it late, at the end, cancer won when she died in six months. She was 42, my kids, at that time, were 6 and 13. They are now 45 and 42 and I moved where the time went. It felt natural to join CLWF because to me leukemia impacts not only the patient but the whole family, just like it did for me. I have childhood friends now who fight leukemia.

I know two things for sure. With protocols like immunotherapy and others, we will someday find a cure for cancer. The other thing I know is people need financial help and help in other forms as we fight childhood leukemia together.

BIANCA BIRD

Board Member

Bianca joined the board in 2021 after volunteering with the organization for 2 years. While volunteering, Bianca was able to see firsthand the impact the organization had on families and was excited to join the board.

Bianca has 15+ years of sales and marketing experience and leads our social media and communications. Her main priority is to tell the stories of our warriors, spread awareness of treatment, and drive social awareness of the foundation’s fundraising efforts.

Bianca is committed to working with fellow board members to spread awareness, fundraise for our warrior families, and help relieve the financial responsibility of treatment.

THOM FORSHA

Board Member

Thom and Ron grew up together. After attending an event and hearing Ron’s passion and the stories of the families impacted, Thom joined the board.

Thom has been integral in our fundraising efforts, helping us help more families in the Chicagoland area.

Nirmit Shukla

Board Member

Nirmit is a proud Chicagoland native who grew up in the northwest suburbs and now resides in Bartlett with his wife, mother, and two children. He attended Northern Illinois University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Professionally, Nirmit serves as a Corporate Controller for a business-to-business media and marketing company.

Having known Ron for over 15 years and inspired by the mission, vision, and purpose of his foundation, Nirmit was eager to join the board in early 2018.

“While there are many wonderful organizations focused on raising awareness, funding research, and improving treatments, families are often left struggling to manage their day-to-day finances—especially while caring for a sick child. What truly drew me to this organization was its grassroots approach, family-centered programs, and commitment to supporting families throughout their child’s entire treatment journey. From the initial diagnosis grant to the recently added celebration grant—and all the programs in between, such as gas cards, back-to-school support, birthday gifts, and holiday assistance—the organization has built programs that directly impact families where they need it most.

I am truly proud and inspired by the families we support, as well as our dedicated donors, sponsors, volunteers, and fellow board members.”
